Grandmayellowhairs Magazine First Copy!

                                                                        ART OF MINE

Hello ladies I have been wanting to start something new on my site and Susan of Art of Mine agreed to be the first one to help me with my project.  As most of you know on Mondays I try to highlight other bloggers that have creative blogs where they also sell their works of art. It is a fun way to introduce others to others. Isn't that what in the end this is why blogging is so addictive and fun. So my idea is to introduce other bloggers to you but let them tell you a story. If I had a magazine it would be like the People Magazine but of Real People not actors. (of course if Clint baby wanted an interview my magazine would make a one time exception) Right now I don't have my own magazine but I do have this site where awesome Real people connect with me so in one of my moments of thinking about all of you I thought why wait do it now. Let these precious new friends of yours tell their story. Everyone has a story to tell. I truly believe that and so thank you Susan for being my first friend to tell her story. Enjoy Susan story and my next story comes from a sweet Real blogger lady who has agreed to help me which  is Brenda over a one of our favorite sites Cozy Little House.

Also ladies do not forget about the Ms Ruby's Chocolate Giveaway ending March 4th. All you need to do to enter is leave a comment on that post and be a follower. Oh and ladies you are all too funny with the comments about my picture. Never have I been beautiful but I love hearing it. hahaha...and never have I taken a good picture....oh maybe my wedding picture but believe me when I say I am far from beautiful....

My good friend Maggie recently asked me to do something for her. She asked me
if I would write something on her blog, something about myself, a story...Mmm I thought where to start? Well recently I read somewhere that "Your story begins at home",so my friends that is where I will begin. I promise not to bore you too much!!

My name is Susan and I live in a small town in Georgia. I have not always lived here though. I was born in Miami, Fl. many moons ago. I grew up in Denver, Co. and raised a family in New Jersey. I also lived for awhile in Connecticut and also in England for 5 years.

As you can tell I have been around the block...quite a few of them in total.
I am married to a great man and have three grown sons and two grandsons along with
two step sons and one step daughter. My Mom who recently turned 90 years young
also lives with us, and...we have a great cat, his name is Sam, he is middle aged and loves
to nap almost all the time! Don't we all??
I cannot remember a time when I did not want to draw or color/paint or sew.

Being creative is and has always been a burning desire within me.

I believe that God gives everyone a special gift to be shared and I believe that this is mine.
I strongly believe that this creative gene is also passed down through our families.

In doing research on my family's Geneology for over 30 years now I have found a common thread of self expression especially on my fathers side of the family, from drawing, to being an architect, to building beautiful furniture. This creative gene in our family has been passed down now into the sixth generation.

In full circle of telling you a bit about myself, I want you to know that my creative
spirit has brought me here to this chapter in my life. One night while surfing the internet

I was searching for other ladies to connect with who loved creating the same things
as I do, as a result I found all of you here in Blogland and my life since then ( just a few months ago) has changed so much. I have met some of the most creative and talented women. I am struck with awe at your astonishing works of art, not to mention your generosity, kindness of heart and the giving spirit of Love. Time and again I find wonderful women who's art amazes and inspires me. Many a spirit you all have lifted I am sure.... including mine....Thank you!

God Bless you Maggie dear and Thank you for your Loving Heart of Friendship to us all.

Susan in Georgia

Great story Susan and thank you very much.
Sweet Dreams everyone
Maggie

BLESSINGS TO ALL OF YOU!

COULD NOT go to bed tonight without posting about the sonagram! You my dear friends have made this past week possible to get through with all your prayers for Christi and our prayers have been answered. They told her from the looks of the sonagram that it is most likely just a hormonal kind of lump and should go away. She is suppose to do follow ups with her regular doctor and if it is still there in two months then more test.
As a Breast Cancer Survivor, this has been a long ordeal but you guys made it so much easier for me.  The day I found all of you has been the best days of my life. Thank you so much for being the truly lovely ladies that you all are!
I can not tell you how happy and relieved I am that she is going to be okay!
Bailey enjoyed his day and seemed tickled that his grandmayellowhair showed up for his special day. His big party is Saturday but I will be working. His dad let him pick the place he wanted to eat and he chose Souper Salads (my guess because they had pizza) while we were sitting at the table he called me "Granny"! It took me a long time to get use to Grandmayellowhair but not sure if I can go the granny route....hahahahaha
I would post pictures of him and Kaci today but I am actually still there and will be home tomorrow so I can transfer them to my computer then.
Looking forward to my next post! I have for the last month or so wanted to start doing a post at least once a week of fellow bloggers. My feelings are we all have a story to tell and how fun it would be to have all of you tell us your story or a story. I do the Temptation Mondays to showcase creative artist and their pieces but what about the creative others! To me that is what blogging is about getting to know others and their lifes. So please watch for the first upcoming post. I will be looking for volunteers for doing stories or I will have to hunt you down and beg you to do one. So make it easy on both of us and volunteer.
Also do not forget to leave a comment for the Ms Rubys Chocolate giveaway. It will be closing before you know it and I will be making Fudge or peanut clusters for the winner.
Your comments about my picture are just too funny because this is not a good picture of me but on the candy package it was thumb nail size or maybe a tiny bit larger but you really could not see me that well so I did not think much of about having it on there. If I were at home I could copy the writing on the back of the label which is kind of funny. This picture was taken at a Halloween Dance where I was dressed as a Saloon girl and my dress was real full with a big red petticoat underneath and would you believe I won First place for this costume.
So Happy to be able to share good news with all of you so I guess that means Maggie is Back!

Rebecca at A Gathering of Thoughts

I’m a happily married woman of many years to the most amazing man. Mother of two grown children and Nana to one PERFECT little girl! I love decorative arts of all kinds~ especially those that implement vintage textiles. It is easy for me to get lost in my work when using the fabulous old finds made long ago with loving hands. Mastering the art of painting roses is my passion. I love to transform aging treasures and refashion and re-purpose them for use in shabby cottage chic homes of today. I am a seamstress and a sewer of fine things. Always on a never ending quest to hunt down snippets of old lace and ribbon. I rarely miss a day of working with thread and needle, paint brush and pallet. I love to read about successful women and those who lovingly manage both a career and family. Learning more about Jesus and His unwavering love for me is a daily focus. I enjoy Bible Study and all things Christ-centered. It has been my faith in a loving God, the Most High, who has sustained me throughout my life.

OLD LADY'S DAY IN COURT!

Vicki  (All My Yesterdays) sent me this joke a week ago and whats really funny she says in the email to me ....for some reason this joke reminded me of you Maggie!

Defense Attorney:

Will you please state your age?

Little Old Lady:

I am 94 years old..

Defense Attorney:

Will you tell us, in your own words, what happened the night of April 1st?

Little Old Lady:

There I was, sitting there in my swing on my front porch on a warm spring evening,

when a young man comes creeping up on the porch and sat down beside me.

Defense Attorney:

Did you know him?

Little Old Lady:

No, but he sure was friendly.

Defense Attorney:

What happened after he sat down?

Little Old Lady:

He started to rub my thigh.

Defense Attorney:

Did you stop him?

Little Old Lady:

No, I didn't stop him.

Defense Attorney:

Why not?

Little Old Lady:

It felt good. Nobody had done that since my Albert died some 30 years ago.

Defense Attorney:

What happened next?

Little Old Lady:

He began to rub my breasts.

Defense Attorney:

Did you stop him then?

Little Old Lady:

No, I did not stop him.

Defense Attorney:

Why not?

Little Old Lady:

His rubbing made me feel all alive and excited. I haven't felt that good in years!

Defense Attorney:

What happened next?

Little Old Lady:

Well, by then, I was feeling so 'spicy' that I just laid down and told him

'Take me, young man. Take me now!'

Defense Attorney:

Did he take you?

Little Old Lady:

Hell, no! He just yelled, 'April Fools!' And that's when I shot him, the little  turd!!!!

Can you believe that anyone would read this and think of me.....hahahahahaha
Goodness gracious it does need to warm up so I can sit on my front porch swing more often YOU never know who might pay me a visit.

Hope you sweet ladies have a wonderful weekend. This is my weekend off and I so cherish them. Still no word from the test about Christi but your comments and prayers have really helped me get through these last few days. What would this ole lady do with out you all....I don't want to find out....

THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!

Today is about how generous and lovely bloggers truly are. In the past four months I have won several great giveaways and also received just as many thoughtful beautiful gifts in the mail. So I had to share these lovelies with all of you!

Annie over at her moms site The Middlest Sister  made me some of these pretty  bracelets and two are just a like for Kaci and myself to have mattching bracelets. How sweet of you Annie not only to think of me but Kaci too. I can not wait to see her and show her who made these bracelets and why! Thank you Annie for making these bracelets to help the people from Haiti. I love mine and will always think of you when I wear it!

                                                                           Kate at Auntie Cakes

Beautiful Kate is Aunt to sweet Annie and of course sister to Libbie. Kate being the sweetheart she is made me a lovely white heart  with a pink roses for Valentines, and I hung it in my bedroom where I blog so I can awe over it everyday....
Thank you so much the heart is beautiful and something I will love forever! It must of took you hours to make it. Lovely!

SHARON

For Valentines I recieved this beautiful handmade heart from the lovely Georgia peach Sharon. Once again this heart reminds me of how talented, gifted and generous all of your are out here in blogland. Thank you Sharon I will cherish this forever and hang it also where I can enjoy it everyday. Check Sharons site out she makes jewelry too.

Our darling, Karyn at FRENCH CHARMING had a Lisa Leonard Jewelry giveaway in November and I won it. It was a very generous gift certificate to Lisa's shop and she had so much to pick from I like to have never made up my mind. I finally ordered the wish necklace and had it engraved with the saying "hope with jdrf......which stands for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. As most of you know my sweet Kaci diagnosed with this in July and was only 7 at the time. I thought she and I could share this really lovely necklace. Thank you so much Karyn for doing this giveaway. I adore the necklace and will always think of you when Kaci or I wear it.

Carin at the CROSS STITCH GIANT had a first anniversary giveway in November and I won these counted cross stitch charts.  I am excited about winning these and hope to have them both finished by Christmas holidays so guess who had to get busy! Aren't they cute.  Thank you Carin for sending me the wonderful charts.

MEGHAN    at The Perfect Compilation Tape had a giveaway which was this beautiful headband!
It is so lovely and I know once my Kcai sees it I will not have it any longer.
Just beautiful don't you think....Thank you very much Meghan for this giveaway!

LISA at Davis Dialogues had a giveaway for this book that I have heard is very good so I am excited about receiving it soon. Lisa is a new nana so be sure and congratulate her. Her daughter had a son.
Thank you Lisa I will let you know as soon as it gets here!

Since I consider myself as one lucky lady for winning all these giveways in the last three or four months. Maybe its time for another giveaway from Grandmayellowhair! So in the next few days I will announce another giveaway so that means you just have to come back to enter and to find out what it will be! lol

Also my daughter Christi will be upset with me for mentioning this but I so believe in the power of prayer so I will just take the chance of her not seeing this post. Yesterday she phoned me and told me her doctor found a lump on her left breast. Since I am a breast cancer survivor myself I totally wanted to just cry but instead I started praying. So my sweet friends I am asking for you all to lift my daughter Christi up in prayer that this lump is just a benign cyst. As always I love all of you  and thank you for always stopping by and making me smile!

Christi and Kaci

TEMPTATION MONDAYS

I received this email from Gail and thought I should share it with you! Gail is the beautiful one on the left and the one that looks just like her is her talented daughter Meghan.

I was thinking about your Monday posting and I thought my NEAR and DEAR T shirts and necklaces would be perfect to highlight if you don't have an item yet. I figure with Valentines day and February Heart Disease Awareness month it is a perfect time to higlight these. Libbie is going to do  a

T shirt for a give away. Let me know if you are interested. I don't know if you know what they are about, briefly, my 18 yr old daughter lost both of her grandfathers to heart disease. She was particularly close to my dad. She was constantly being dragged to hospitals and the nursing home to see him from the time she was 8. Even before that when she was 2 she was dragged to the hospital during his cancer bout. You see before his heart problems he had colon cancer....then pancreatic cancer. He was one of the 5% lucky ones who survived it. Only to go on and have 4 strokes a heart attack, and heart failure only to end up in a nursing home. Not only did she see what a fighter he was, she watched the whole thing play out from the perspective of how it affected her mother, grandmother and aunts. She thought about a way to honor her grandfather after his death and came up with the Near and Dear items. She did it in collaboration with my etsy store Obee Designs, my father's last name, which I am doing to honor my artistic and creative father. The news came last week to tape a story about her and the business. Unfortunately due to all the snow we have gotten up here in New Jersey, they haven't had time to run the story yet. It may be running next week When I get a copy of the story I am going to post it on my blog so hopefully people will understand the whole concept better. The necklaces and t shirts have her artwork of a heart with wings which was chosen to be in the Deborah Heart and Lung Hospital Art Show last year. It is a very big heart hospital in the Philadelphia region that does heart transplants etc. So it was a big accolade that her art was chosen. Anyway, the necklaces have a custom photo of someone you  would like

These necklaces are beautiful and the reason behind them being created makes them even more special. What a great gift or giveaway. hmmmm gives me an idea!!!
MY CRAZY friend Libbie over at The Middlest Sister is giving away one of these T-shirts so stop by and put your name in the pot. If you remember Libbie is the mother of precious Annie who does the bracelets for Haiti. You can read about Annie on an earlier post of mine.

Sharon always is working on something creative and beautiful. I can say from experience and gifts from this adorable Georgia peach she not only beads jewelry but can make something beautiful out of anything. God had really blessed this young lady and now me with having her as a friend.

I so love showing you all the gifted blogger friends wonderful creations. If at any time you want to be on my Mondays posting just email me along with a link to your blog and pictures of what you would like featured. Also I might add put Temptation Mondays in the subject line that way I want loose your email. I have been known to do that and I hate it.
There are so many other blogging friends out there that I would love to have on here. Please stop by my other Temptation Mondays post and check them out also.

Ladies the sun is shining for the first time in my world today so this ole grandma is going outside! Toooooooooo muddy to get on the tractors but I know there are others things that have to be done so until later I wish all of you the most beautiful day and if you don't think of anything else today think of me.......hahahahaha
Love to all
Maggie

MS PEARL IS GETTING ANTSY!

Hello my sweet friends ENJOY the Valentine I got from a fellow Officer the other day. Isn't it cute!

Today I started building a raft out here on the north forty! Why?, you ask…..because it is freaking raining cats, dogs, pigs, horses and cows here in my part of Texas. I know that rain is nothing to complain about we all know that by summer here in Texas we will be begging for it but ladies this cold rainy weather is making Ms Pearl antsy and real hard to contain. So silly of me to gripe about mud holes and mud holes when you sweet things have snow coming out of the kazoos….Right?
This ole grandma is so ready for spring so she can shave her legs, paint her toenails pink and put on her short shorts and sandals…..lol (I wish) Seriously every time I take a darn bath in this ole freezing farm house I think about my all time favorite Laura Ingalls and her family Little House on the Prairie or Kitty on Gunsmoke…..How in world did these people take baths much less go to the pooper in the freezing cold. Lord knows I am sure my sweet Mama had to do it too but how!!!!
I keep a oil heater going in the bathroom next to the ole claw foot tub then 20 minutes before my bath I turn it off and turn on a small looking heater that is suppose to look like a wood burning fireplace. Then I turn up the heat pump to 75 and run the hottest water I can stand before I can even stick my big toe in the tub. Truth be known if I would not blow the breaker I would have all three going at the same time. Weenie, yes I guess I am when it comes to taking my clothes off and getting in water in the winter time. No wonder they only took baths once a week. OMG they probably would have had to chase me down and hog tie me to get me to undress and get in a dang tub that is full of lukewarm water. Oh no…heck no not me!! I would of smelled like some of those inmates over at the county jail if I had been born back then.
Well enough of my complaining about the weather. Spring will be here soon followed by summer where I will be telling you how I wish it would rain so I could take a day off from mowing.
I really sat down here to do a post about something entirely different and yet my mind wondered off to mud holes and freezing cold doopers. Also before I wonder off again I wanted to copy and paste the comment I left all of you who left me such kind comments about sending cards to our troops. Just think at least 50 or more cards were sent out because of you guys taking the time to do so. I hope you all save the address and keep sending them because bless their hearts they are so far away from family and friends and need our support. My silly comment to you guys on the last post
I am sitting here listening to Elvis sing to me Your Always on My Mind from #4 on my music list and with him singing that while I reading all your sweet comments tears started coming out of my big brown eyes dripping on my dirty lap top...then I turn to my left because Tinkerbell is slapping my leg and I look into a huge mirror and I kid you not my hair is standing straight up just like a punk rock star would wear it. Then I die laughing because Crazy starts playing by Patsy Cline so now I am falling out of my chair laughing and the tear drops are still on the key pad. hahahaha OMG am I Crazy or what....

Now Twitty is singing its only Make Believe ...then before I can finish this sentence Twist comes on with Chubby Checkers...never knew one minute on my playlist your crying the next your laughing your dooper off....

Girls what in the heck would I do without all of you in my life...I think I am in love with all of you...

Oh no now Ricky is singing Garden Party...I give up...got to go comb my hair, then clean my laptop and slap Tinkerbell for making me look in that direction...lol

Love and thanks to all of you
and Thank you for sending these cards out to our guys and girls who deserve our Thank You's
feel free to copy and paste to all of your sites

Stay dry and warm and know that I am thinking happy warm thoughts about all of you!

SEND A FREE VALENTINE TO OUR TROOPS!

Hello Ladies for a change on  Temptation Mondays I thought we should show our troops our Love and Support for Valentines Day. Now thats a real Temptation right...especially when it only takes 10 seconds to send a card and wish them Happy Valentines Day or simply say Thank You!

If you go to this web site http://www.letssaythanks.com// you can pick out a card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq. You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to a member of the armed services

How AMAZING it would be if we could get everyone we know to send one!!! It is FREE and it only takes a few seconds.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers received a bunch of these? Whether you are for or against the war, our soldiers over there need to know we are behind them.

This takes just 10 seconds and it's a wonderful way to say thank you. Please take the time, and please pass it on for others to do. We can never say enough thank you's.

Thanks for taking the time to support our military! Also Ladies it is no limit to how many you send. Lets send some LOVE  to our Troops.
As always I adore you for leaving me all of your crazy sweet funny comments on the previous post. I want you all to know I behaved all weekend and will do a post about it soon. Also I will have to take my camera to work and capture my new help so you can see the cutie...lol

If you want your shop or beautiful items on the next Temptation Mondays please email me at grandmayellowhair@gmail.com

Love to all of you

ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND!!!!

Photobucket

Ladies your all on my mind this morning so what better time than to do a post! I have so much I wanted to share with you today but there is no way I can do it all in one post so lets just cover a few things today.

First of all we have all heard the ole saying Be careful what you wish for! Well do you ladies remember this young man from one of my Temptation Mondays post.  Photobucket
Well believe it or not his twin brother is in my life now!!!!! Yep walked right into my life at work and given to me by the Captain. He is our new college intern and guess who gets to show him the ropes.....Officer Maggie thats who.... I kid you not this young man looks just like this guy. My mouth dropped open and I said"Thank you sweet Jesus for always answering my prayers."
Seriously I am behaving but only because he is so young....hahahahaha
The other night I had just gone to bed and I heard my phone make a funny sound so I picked it up and it was a text from this young man wanting to know if I wanted to meet him and his buddies for a beer at a local little place here downtown....that text actually made me laugh so hard because  first I was already in bed for the night and two Could you ladies see me sitting with a group of college guys having a beer........tooo funny but also so very sweet of this young man because he is a doll and for him to want me to meet his friends was such a compliment....I did not text him back but he did bring it up yesterday at work and I think this ole granny just smiled and said I don't have text on my phone.....hahahaha...I wasn't about to say I was already in bed....
Now sweeties don't you guys dare get any wrong ideas out there....our relationship is strictly professional but I had to share this with all of you because thats what I do here....share everything....It just made me laugh to think of grandmayellowhair sitting there laughing and joking with a bunch of college students in a club....of course my daughter Christi howled over it.
Bless her heart I know she could not wait to share it with her girlfriends.

Next thing is I visited my friend Karyn over at French Charming last night and she did a post that we should all take a few minutes to read and share with all our blogger friends.  We all put so much on ourselves and then we reach a point where we have to sit back and say whoa am I over doing it ....do I need to slow down and spend more time doing other things ....we have all been there....Anyway Karyn's post is a must read for anyone that does a blog....I too can relate to some of what she was sharing with us. I started this site more or less for myself not ever dreaming anyone would even care to read it much less want to follow me but wow like Karyn I am amazed at how many sweet followers I have and now all I want to do is get to know all of you but I feel like I am failing on that part because even though I try very hard to visit your sites I still run behind.
Just last Monday I lost a email from a dear follower who wanted to be on Temptation Mondays and for the life of me I could not remember who it was but to this day I regret loosing it.
What am I trying to say is I dearly appreciate each and every one of you so please don't get upset with me if I don't stop by as often as I would like to also what I am trying to say is do not ever feel bad about being to busy to stop by and tell me hello because OH my goodness I do so understand!

This world of blogging can only be understood by those who do it. Don't you all agree!

Oh another thing I wanted to share is little Annie sent me some of the bracelets she is selling for the Haiti children and I love them. She even made Kaci and I matching ones. So in the near future I will take a picture and show you guys.

Monday is getting close so if any of you guys want your pretties on Temptation Mondays be sure and send me an email....grandmayellowhair@gmail.com

Got to go the young intern has a question....hahahahaha
Love to all of you,

Maggie

MIRROR MIRROR ON THE WALL

I am thinking I should try the Diane Keaton look!!!

Hello ladies thank you for joining me tonight as always I am so grateful to all of you for leaving me such thoughtful comments on my Temptation Mondays post. I am always happy when someone wants to post their wonderful things on my site. Who knows one of these days I might sell those pants that I was wearing on Monday. Seriously I should start selling on here myself so I can buy me some new lingerie.

The reason I bring new lingerie up is I put on a pullover knit turtleneck and ladies when I looked in the mirror I had more than two nipples. I kid you not I was looking at two are three nipples on each side of my breast. Weird right even for me! Well thank goodness I noticed it before I left the house. Yep that would not have been good parading around town with extra nipples. I twisted, pulled and lifted but no matter how many times I tried to adjust myself  I still could not fix the problem. Not only was it extra nipples but one side looked like it was sagging lower than the other side. Lord getting old is not for the weak. Nope and not for me either….. I put on the turtleneck because the other night when I was on hold with Verizon about my bytes I turned and looked in the mirror and I could of swore I saw what look like the start of a chicken neck. Oh man I am so not ready for all these changes. I may turn into Diane Keaton with all her turtlenecks. I wonder what kind of bras she wears. Probably not ones I can afford….Right!!! Boy when I think of how many bras and panties I could buy with the money I am sending Verizon for my overage. Wow we could all go shopping.
Anyway it is time for grandmayellowhair to invest in some new bras that lift a little and maybe ones that are firm(or make you look firm) and hide breast that are not that young anymore and some new turtlenecks too.. So any suggestions on what kind I should shop for ladies. What is your favorite bra? Help me out here as always I trust you can help me.

Hope your all having a great week. Hard to believe we are into the month of February already…..I have to admit though this ole grandma is so ready for warmer weather. My utility bill was a whopping 500.00 dollars and if I had been warm during that month I would not have minded as much for the high bill but since I froze my dooper off it was so not worth it. Lol Dooper is word my grandbabies make me use instead of the bad word they call it.

Oh your not going to believe this but I won another giveaway. Yep the blogger angels are really watching out for me. I won the most beautiful headbands on sweet Meghans site The Perfect Compilation Tape

Be sure and visit her and see my giveaway and when I get them I will model for you……not the new bras but the new head bands.

So ladies its getting late and back to the ole Sheriffs office tomorrow. Life there is really stressful but nothing new…..
Take care ladies and as always I appreciate all of you and
Sweet Dreams!
